Emory Motorsports Porsches Visit Jay Leno’s Garage
Third-generation car builder Rod Emory of Emory Motorsports visits Jay Leno with a pair of custom Porsche 356s in this episode of Jay Leno’s Garage.
As a restomodding outfit, Emory Motorsports worries less about restoring these Porsches to factory specifications and more about adding personality and flair. Their creations were often deemed “outlaws” by Porsche purists sinceĀ there wasn’t a class for them to compete in at car shows, but they’ve embraced the term and never looked back.
Emory continues to specialize in buildingĀ 1950s era Porsche 356s, adding modern components and appointments to update the driving experience to our current standards while still maintaining the vintage appeal of these compact sports cars. His work is so good that at the Monterey Historics in 1998, a group of Porsche factory employees gathered around the very first Emory Special and asked each other, “when did we build this car?”
