The Employee of the Month Award Does NOT go to…

employee

I know what a lot of you kids are thinking. Being an employee at a high end car dealership and getting to drive all kinds of cool cars has got to be a blast. Well, I’ve done it, and it is—most of the time.

In fact, being an automotive journalist is quite similar. I often get to drive cool, fast and expensive cars, only to have to give them up after a certain period of time. But the one thing you never, ever do while driving someone else’s car (or your own for that matter), is be under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Otherwise, you’ll end up like Cary Atkins from the U.K.

Mr. Atkins was the employee of a prestigious dealership, and was allowed to drive dealership-owned vehicles as he pleased, including the Lamborghini Murcielago you’ll see in this video—á la BBQ. One night, Mr. Atkins decided to consume thrice the legal limit of something called “benzoylecgonine,” which happens to be the main ingredient in cocaine. The rest is history.

Atkins veered off the road and rammed the Lambo into a railing causing the Lamborghini to ignite and die from a fiery death, in true and typical Italian fashion.

That’s exactly how not to become employee of the month.

Say NO thank you to drugs, kids…
