That might look like a typo, but Ferrari’s hypercar is actually named “LaFerrari.” Trust me, you’re going to stop caring about the name in a second. This car is a stunner.

First things first, we’ll break down the specifications. Ferrari has fitted LaFerrari with a 789 horsepower 6.3 liter V12 and a 160 horsepower electric motor. In total, the LaFerrari boasts 949hp and 663lb-ft of torque. Normally I’d mention the 0-60 time, but with power like this, it kinda ceases to be relevant. That milestone is over and done with in the time it takes to get the accelerator to the floor. Keep it pegged though, and you’ll be up to 125 mph in about seven seconds. At full tilt, the Ferrari will max out at 205 miles per hour. I can only assume that the top speed is limited.

The body is gorgeous, in a built-by-aerodynamics kinda of way. Though, out of all the F models, I think this one is the most aesthetically pleasing. Notably, the body is made out of no fewer than four different types of carbon fiber. Even then, the car will likely weigh about 2800lbs.

But back to the name. LaFerrari. Leca di Montezemolo, president of Ferrari, has this to say about it: “We chose to call this model LaFerrari because it is the maximum expression of what defines our company – excellence. Excellence in terms of technological innovation, performance, visionary styling and the sheer thrill of driving.” This car is not only the fastest Ferrari ever, but it’s a resounding statement about what the company stands for. Most of those things are familiar: insane performance, V12 engines, beautiful designs, rosso corsa, but it also means that things like HY-KERS are probably ready to stick around.

Want one? Well, there are a few hoops. First of all, it’s a Ferrari, so they’re only going to let people they like buy them. Second, they’re building 499 of them. This is a car for the collector market. Of course, that brings us to the third point: price. This is the ultimate Ferrari and they’re going to charge the ultimate Ferrari price. If your net worth is less than or equal to the GDP of Canada, you’re probably out of luck. The rest of us plebe’s will have to wait for this thing to hit Forza.
