Refreshed R8 Makes Debut at Moscow Autoshow
Summer is coming to an end, and the autoshow season is kicking back into gear. Moscow is the first. Although it’s a small show, there are still a few cars that warrant attention. Like Audi’s new R8, for instance.
Key external changes include revised headlights, new diffusers, exhuasts, and a swanky new R8 logo. We don’t have that many shots of it in the flesh from Moscow, but we’ve got a ton of press shots from when Audi revealed announced the upgrades a few weeks ago. A revised front fascia is probably the first thing people will notice, but it’s definitely not the biggest change.
The real draw for the 2013 model is the top-of-the-line R8 V10 plus. An upgraded 5.2L V10 grants the coupe 542bhp; that’s a 24hp bump over the outgoing V10. They’ve also replaced the unloved R-Tronic six-speed gear box, with a twin-clutch seven-speed. As a result, the V10 plus will drop a tenth of a second from it’s 0-60 time to 3.5 seconds.
It’ll go on sale in Europe with a base price of €113,500 for the V8 and €124,800 for the Spyder. V10 models are listed at €154,600 and €165,00, while the V10 plus will cost €173,200.
