$50 Million Ferrari 250 GTO Nearly Gets Creamed by Jaguar, Ends up Being Creamed by Cobra
This video may not be breaking news to some of you, but for some reason it managed to evade me until just a few days ago. The first time I watched the footage I gasped for air and clenched my butth… Ok, you get the point.
This awesome trio of YouTube videos comes to us by Goodwood Road & Racing, and Nicholas Lette van Oostvoorne. The setting is the 2016 Goodwood Festival of Speed, and the protagonist is a bloody gorgeous Ferrari 250 GTO in racing guise. Yes, I’m referring to the only vehicle in the world (allegedly) valued at $50 million dollars.
If you watch the videos below in order, first you’ll see an exterior shot of the scene, as a Jaguar E-Type spins under breaking, loses the rear-end, and comes within an inch of taking the Ferrari out. Literally. The second video features the same action but from inside the Jaguar. This one is especially cool, because it begins a few laps prior to the near-collision, and shows the rowdy battle between a Corvette, the Ferrari and the Jag.
Lastly, the third video shows the same Ferrari that narrowly escaped carnage on the video before, not being able to escape carnage a second time. Like the saying goes, “second time is the charm.” Ok, not really. It seems the Ferrari 250 GTO had a big target painted on its rear-end during the festivities, and the competition wouldn’t chill until someone took the darn thing out of the race. Yes, it’s sad.
Watch and cringe.
