Ferraris have always been expensive, especially old Ferraris. But lately there has been a trend at auction that has seen relatively expensive cars go for huge lumps of cash. In the last few years records continue to be shattered when it comes to older Ferraris, and honestly there is no end in sight for these cars.

In the upcoming auction in Monterey this August, there might be a new king and record holder in the world of vintage Ferraris.

This 1965 Ferrari 275 GTB/C Speciale is set to cross the auction block and by all sane estimates will hit around $34 million. That is a bit under the record of $52 million for a Ferrari 250 GTO from last October, but that wasn’t supposed to go for anywhere near that number.

Rare vintage Ferrari’s have blown past all normal estimates lately giving little to no credence to the auction company’s potential sell price. All they are at the moment are guesses.

Take for example the Ferrari Dino GTS. For the longest time I figured that maybe if I played my cards right I would be able to one day own one. They were stable at around $35-55,000 for years and years.

In the last year or so, those same cars are now in the $400-600,000 range, beyond anything I could ever hope to achieve. If you want a great investment right now, and have the cash to do it, the surest way to make money is buy a vintage Ferrari and wait about a minute. You will most likely double your investment.
