Ferrari Unleashed: F40 vs F50 vs Enzo vs 288GTO

That’s four of the greatest Ferraris ever made, lined up, on the Dunsfold test track. Dozens of cylinders, several turbos, and with one exception, all have manual transmissions. This is a test that Top Gear Magazine did, and it has to be one of their favorites. Ferrari has had their share of problems in the past -fires, ringer cars, the overall design of the California- but they still stir hearts like nothing else. They still scream. They still look great. Their crimson suit never gets old. You might buy yours in silver or blue, but a red Ferrari is still a red Ferrari.

And these are legends. The 288GTO is a striking car. The F40 is, well, the F40. It might be their best car ever; raw, fast, an example of what they can really do in an era before traction control and digital shifting. The F50 gets a rap as second fiddle but it really can stand on its own, as Chris Harris demonstrated here. And the Enzo…the mid-engined titan than led us into the new age of paddle shifters and hyper-expensive super cars.

Top Gear gives you a glimpse behind the scenes at their day with these 4 examples of exquisite metal.
