Ryan Tuerck’s Ferrari-Powered Toyota GT86 Hits The Track For the First Time
“It took a village of people to make this thing happen.” – Ryan Tuerck
This car was built for SEMA 2016, and while most SEMA builds are simple show cars that rarely function as well as they look, Ryan Tuerck made sure that his Ferrari-powered Toyota sports car was ready to go to the track, and that has finally happened. Luckily, Donut Media were there to record the day so we could see it in glorious HD right here. The track is Willow Springs, and Tuerck’s tandem drift partner is the also seriously talented Chris Forsberg in his own 370Z drift demo car.
The idea of shoving a big engine into a small car is not a new one. Hot rodders have been doing just that for decades. Yet Ryan and his team managed to knock this one out of the park with a surprising engine source and a whole heck of a lot of work. Taking the high-revving V8 out of the back of a Ferrari 458 and shoving it in the nose of a Toyota GT86 is not something you see on a regular basis. It has been dubbed the “GT4586” as a combination name of the two cars that the was idea was hatched from. It would seem that the project worked well, as this car (with help from Tuerck) holds long sweeping drifts at consistent angles and manages transitions quite well. The Ferrari mill provides enough power to get the rear tires cooking, and the light and nimble GT86 chassis does the rest of the heavy lifting. While this car is not built for actual competition purposes, and will be used exclusively for brand building and attention grabbing videos like this one, it’s still a really interesting project to follow.
In the world of drifting, you have to continue getting wilder and wilder in order to capture the attention of fans and media alike. This is a step above, and we can’t wait to see what comes next!
