Ferrari Roma Gets Stuck on Tight Italian Street

Stuck Ferrari Roma

Seeing this Ferrari Roma getting stuck on a narrow street in Italy reminds us that rich people are no smarter than the rest of us.

The Ferrari Roma is a beautiful thing. A lovely new touring car from the folks at Ferrari. It is not the highest performing car in the stable but maybe the best looking. The 612-horsepower turbocharged V8 pushes the Ferrari to 60 mph in about 3 seconds. It tops out at 199 mph. Top speeds that high are mainly irrelevant. But you know what is not irrelevant? The 77.7-inch width of the car.

That is a very important spec to keep in mind. It is a spec that one Ferrari Roma driver did not pay close enough attention to. The result was he got the car wedged trying to slip through a tight street in Italy. To add insult to injury, the episode was caught on camera. But hey, at least he didn’t total it.

The video of the scene is posted on the SupercarsNews YouTube channel. The clip is under a minute long, but it shows you all that you need to know. There is a gray Ferrari Roma that clearly is too wide for the road it is trying to navigate. Remember the ship Ever Given and the struggle it had with the Suez Canal?

Well, this Ferrari should not disrupt global marine traffic, but it is still an embarrassing situation. In an effort to salvage a scrape of dignity the license plate and the good Samaritan trying to help are obscured in the video. That is the good news. The bad news is the video ends with the Ferrari still stuck. We have to assume the car eventually got out, but at what price?

Ferrari Roma

A new Ferrari Roma starts at nearly a quarter of a million dollars. And that is before the absurd Ferrari option list is even considered. Breaking news: a Ferrari is not cheap. It is not cheap to buy and it sure as heck is not cheap to repair. The car may not have sustained major structural damage in this incident.

However, by the way things look in the video there is no way it escaped unscathed. At a minimum it looks like there will need to be some paint repair around the rear fenders. This will likely be a several thousand-dollar mistake.

We have to wonder what made the driver even attempt this maneuver in the first place. Whatever is on the other side of that street must have been pretty damn important. What could possibly be so urgent and important that you would be willing to risk squeezing a new Ferrari down a road like that?

Of course, Ferrari owners typically have significant means, so you could argue that the driver doesn’t really care, and the cost of the mistake is of little consequence. But that does not seem to be the case here as the driver is being extremely careful trying to make it through without a scratch. Perhaps next time this driver needs to visit the area hiring a taxi would be a prudent move.
