How To Fix An Aston Martin DBS by Doing Donuts

By -

Aston Martins are complex machines, and as one owner finds out they can be a bit temperamental. Check out how this broken DBS found its fix.

The worst fear of any supercar owner is a major mechanical failure. Exotic cars tend to have exotic parts which come with exotic price tags. Aston Martin is a perfect example of this notion. The British manufacturer builds some of the most beautiful and luxurious supercars in the world. They also are assembled mostly by hand, and, as a result, produced in low numbers. This means when something goes wrong, the dealer has to track down the problem. On high-volume cars, dealers will find common problems as they pop up and they know how to fix them. In fact, they usually stock the parts to fix these problems as well. So, what happens when your expensive and rare Aston Martin DBS has a problem the dealer or Aston Martin have never seen before?

In this video, Ed Bolian of VinWiki describes just such a situation with an Aston Martin DBS. The owner of the DBS had just bought it after trading in a problematic Vanquish. Shortly after the purchase, he had an issue of all the warning lights on the dash lighting up and the car shutting down. Then the car would not restart. He sent it to Ed’s dealership to resolve the issue. Unfortunately no one at the shop could get the car to repeat the failure. Without seeing the problem the mechanics could not resolve the issue. So, the DBS was delivered back to the customer.

A short time later the problem returned and the DBS was sent back to the dealership. The crew took turns driving the Aston Martin to try to repeat the problem, but no one could do it. Aston Martin themselves had not idea what the issue was and as a result they had no solution. Watch the video to see how Ed is able to get the problem to return and let us know what you think in the comments.
