Formula 1 in Thailand: The Route Revealed
Thailand is one of the world’s best countries to vacation in, and if you were thinking about making the journey here’s a little extra incentive.
Last season, Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone announced that starting in 2015 a race in would be held in the capitol city of Bangkok.
Now, a route has emerged and we’re one step closer to getting a race in Thailand. Said route is 5.995km and crosses some fantastic scenery –the start/finish straight lies adjacent to the Royal Thai Naval Dockyard. The route continues to snake through citycenter, passing spots such as the Grand Palace, Victory Monument and Temple of Dawn.
The proposed track layout looks nothing like the technical, mickey mouse, track in Singapore and the long straights are sure to bring high speeds and lots of passing even without the use of the DRS device.
It’s a night race too, and the lights never fail to make the cars and drivers helmets absolutely stunning.
Here’s hoping the schedule is moved around a bit so in three consecutive weekends the F1 season stays in Southeast Asia moving from Singapore, then Malaysia, and finishing in Thailand.
