With hundreds of cars to showcase, you’ll enjoy setting some time aside to watch this Petersen Automotive Museum walkthrough!

There’s not much of a chance for casual travel this year, and Petersen Automotive Museum knows this. Michael Bodell from the Museum has decided to give fellow car enthusiasts a treat by doing a full museum tour. Grab something good to eat as this is a 2 hour stroll through one of America’s finest automotive museums.

Naturally, the silhouette of a Porsche draws our attention, and thankfully there’s a number of them proudly displayed. Throughout strolling, you’ll see a number of them, expectedly in the “supercars” section of the museum. Bodell, next to the 959 explains, “Porsche approached the supercar in a very refined way.” Noting that 959 S variants such at the one here would do 210 miles per hour in a usable fashion. Want something more aggressive? Ruf is there to answer your call. A Yellow Bird CTR sits right next to the 959.

Porsche has its own section, according to Bodell. “Our newest Porsche exhibit is called Redefining Performance,” Bodell says. Most notably is the Gmund porsche, which is the first Porsche to win its class at Le Mans in 1949. Naturally, other Le Mans Porsches compliment the first, with a 930 turbo and a 991 RSR from 2016 paired together.

The Vault, which has been overhauled through association with Hagerty, has some neat cars, too. Without all the showroom flash, cars in The Vault are a bit more approachable, but that doesn’t mean they are any less significant. For instance, one car we saw was a Porsche Continental. And as you’d expect by the name, it was, indeed, a luxurious version of the 356. Of the very rare Continental, Bodell says, “these were Americanized. They wore whitewall tires, they had more padding in the interior and were a bit more roomy.”

As enthusiasts, we like other cars, too, and each segment of the museum has something interesting and unique to offer. There’s sections for Off-road cars, electric cars, custom cars, pre-war cars. You name it, they have it. And as we saw in The Vault, it’s a miss match of anything and everything.
