Happy Birthday Enzo Ferrari!
On this date in 1898, Enzo Ferrari was born in Modena, Italy, and the world will never be the same.
He was a skilled racer, a savvy business man, and a visionary that sparked the creation of the super sports car and the cachet that comes with it.
But Ferrari didn’t really want to make sports cars. He wanted to race. From an early age he was hooked on driving race cars and participating in the heated competition.
Eventually, to help fund his racing prospects, he started to build sports cars that people could buy. And those sales brought him the money he needed to race.
To this day, many of the best and most exotic cars that money can buy wear the prancing horse logo of Ferrari.
To honor his legacy, the company even produced a car named after him; the Enzo. It was a fitting tribute for someone who demanded the very best.
Under the umbrella of Fiat, Ferrari still does very well to this day. The 458 is regarded as one of the best modern sports cars, and the new 488 GTB is helping usher in a new engine age at Ferrari.
Many of the cars I’ve lusted after over the years have been Ferraris. I’m not sure if I’d be into cars as much as I am if it wasn’t for Enzo Ferrari.
Now, what I want to know is how he’d feel about the new batch of turbo engines coming out of his company?
