Happy Birthday Paul Walker: Honoring the Man with a Heart for Many
Many people were deeply affected by the life and death of a man named Paul Walker. Some of them were fans of the Fast and Furious movie series that began back in 2001, where Walker starred alongside Vin Diesel as Brian O’Connor, the cop-gone-criminal with a need for speed.
Some were hardcore car enthusiasts who ached at the fact that a wonderful race car driver and performance junkie had left the world much too soon. Others were grief-stricken because a strong-hearted philanthropist never got to see his work come to fruition. No matter the reason, countless people still grieve over Paul Walker.
They seek to pay tribute to him; to follow his legacy in some way. Well, September 12th would have been Paul’s forty-first birthday, and a close friend of his has decided that it was the time to honor him properly and publicly.
Jesse Brisendine knew Paul Walker well, and they were great friends for years before his death. Despite the difficulty with coping with the sudden loss, Jesse has stepped out from his mourning in order to do what he believe Paul would have wanted him to do.
He has started a fundraising campaign that aims to collect $1,000,000 for the organization that Paul founded and loved – Reach Out World Wide (ROWW).
ROWW provides disaster relief throughout the world by sending professionals with first responder skill sets to go and administer aid. Teams from ROWW have been present at the Haiti earthquake in 2010, the typhoon in the Philippines in 2011, the Oklahoma City tornado in 2013, and many more operations to date.
Despite being a rather small organization in size, ROWW has done a lot of good and meant a great deal to Paul Walker, who saw it as his legacy.
In addition to seeking donations to benefit ROWW, Jesse also hopes to pay tribute to Paul through the very fact that September 12th is also International Sunrise/Sunset Day.
He asks that everyone take a picture of the sunrise or sunset (or both) and post them on their social media account accompanied with these hashtags: #HappyBirthdayPW, #ROWW, or #OneMillionForROWW.
Jesse also asks for everyone to take a screenshot of their donation (denomination does not need to be included) and post that on their social media as well, accompanied by the same hashtags. He has plans to compile these together and to make a video or something else in memory of Paul.
Click here to make your donation towards the $1,000,000 campaign to support ROWW. Jesse made a video to support this cause, which is available for you to watch here. Watch for the sunrise and sunset tomorrow, and get the picture rain or shine. Include your car in the photo if you want! And for all the Fast and Furious fans out there: Save the date! The seventh installment in the series comes to theaters on April 3rd, 2015!
Happy 41st, Paul. Rest in peace.
