It’s not everyday you get to see a 2016 Rolls-Royce Dawn and 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn together, but there they were at a recent Beverly Hills preview held for a super select few.

The sexy new,  two-door convertible is still lovingly handcrafted in Goodwood, England and like its predecessor the Silver Dawn, it also seats four.

The latest rear-wheel drive cruiser packs a 6.6-liter, twin turbo V-12 under its massive hood. Despite weighing in at 5,644 pounds, it can still manage to hit 0-60 mph in only 4.9 seconds. The 1953 version will get there….eventually, but the classic Rolls will always win big for its looks, elegance and waterfall grille.

The new Dawn delivers the silence of the Wraith according to Rolls and the top takes only a mere 22 seconds to go down at speeds up to 37 mph.

“Dawn’s powerful and striking front end gives it a sensuous yet edgy, almost masculine look whilst the bold sweeping shoulder line becomes more sensuous as it flows over the swell of the rear wheels, accommodating a wider track. A tapered ‘wake channel’ on the bonnet, emanating from the Spirit of Ecstasy’s wings, evokes the sight of a jet’s vapor trail, hinting at the car’s dynamism,” a Rolls release raves.

And who can argue with that? The 1953 Rolls-Royce Silver Dawn here is owned by a lucky owner from Detroit and is only one of three known to still roam the continental U.S.

The 2016 haute rod is available with optional 21-inch wheels and this model sported a Midnight Sapphire paint job with a  Mandarin leather interior that really popped.

You can also create your own crazy combination of luxuriously, ludicrous looks on the Rolls-Royce Dawn site here.
