HellKitty is World’s First Hellcat-swapped Mazda Miata
A 700+ horsepower Hellcat V8 Miata is pretty next-level ridiculous, but this only goes to show that if there’s a will, there’s a way.
The humble Mazda Miata has seen its way into a variety of shenanigans since its inception. People love them for their low weight, great handling, hilariously fun driving dynamics, and reasonable price.
Now, one thing that people will usually do with Miatas once they get bored is to shake up the chassis a bit with some more power. Some folks call this sacrilege, others can’t believe Mazda didn’t debut the Miata back in late eighties with 250 HP to boot. Regardless of where you stand on that debate, the fact remains that the Miata chassis is a great building block for some truly interesting builds. Enter Youtuber Karr, who one day decided it would be a good idea to put a 707 HP Dodge crate engine V8 into a second-hand Miata.
After reviewing his YouTube channel, you can see he has been posting weekly updates on this build for over 3 months and counting. What we also come to notice that after listening to his interview with the ever popular automotive channel That Racing Channel, is that this monster of a Miata was constructed in under 3 months. Now, I don’t know about you guys, but getting a running and driving car in that period which is as custom as this, is nothing short of a modern marvel. I could watch the 14+ build progress videos all the way through and still not understand how it was done.

The reason Karr decided to do this build is to “do a crazy car build for YouTube”. If that’s not reason to put a $20,000 engine in a old Miata, I don’t know what is. Considering the car is 2000 pounds lighter than the original Challenger the engine came out of, you best believe that it spins Hoosier slicks in 6th gear at 3000 RPM. After dynoing the car at a cool 563 WHP and 563 WTQ on a Mustang dyno, which translates to around “650 WHP or so on a Dynojet”, it can be stated with confidence that this Miata will do effective burnouts.
We have no idea whats to come with this build, but we sure hope it sticks around for a long time.
