Hennessy and Bugatti Tussle For Title of Worlds Fastest Car
Still, Hennessy’s sports car hasn’t quite cemented itself in the record books yet. Guinness requires them to build at least 50 cars for it to be classified as a production car. Hennessy has only built a handful of Venoms, but they’ll be eligible when they crank out a couple dozen more. I’m curious to see what the Venom could really do with a longer track. It carries a fraction of the weight of the Veyron while packing some 1200 hp. Physics says it can go faster.
The word around the net is that Bugatti has a new car coming down the pipeline to best their own Veyron and put Henessey back in their place. We should expect this new, Super Veyron sometime this year. It will have 1600 horsepower and top speed of 288 mph. Until they drop that bombshell, Hennessy’s venom is still top dog when it comes to top speed for the foreseeable future.
Though, given the choice, I would still opt for the Veyron. Sure the Hennessy might be faster and more aggressive… but it lacks the distinction and poise of the Bugatti. There’s no style to it. It’s fast as hell, but it still looks like a stretched out Lotus Exige. What do you think?
