In the wake of a global pandemic, Elation has unveiled the 1903 HP Freedom hypercar that can accelerate from 0 to 62 MPH in just 1.8 seconds.

Californian automakers have always been mavericks, whether it is the modern-day EV pioneer Tesla or Saleen that set new supercar benchmarks in the 1980s. Now, after one of the most challenging years for car sales and in the wake of a global pandemic, a brave new car brand has unveiled an exciting battery –powered hypercar.

The all-new Elation Freedom has finally made its global debut and the electric hypercar has been designed to rival the likes of Lotus Evija, Pininfarina Battista, and the Rimac C-Two. The northern California-based car manufacturer first teased the concept images of the Freedom only a few weeks ago and there is even a video that features a 3-D model that sports the production-spec design.

According to Elation Hypercars, the Freedom nameplate has been in development for almost six years and instead of investing its efforts in developing a show car, the company has confirmed that it will focus on building a working prototype of the electric-only hypercar. The Elation freedom is being developed under the project name “Dogo 001” and customers can expect the electric vehicle to enter production in 2022.

The company will be subjecting Dogo 001 to static and dynamic prototype testing in 2021. The EV manufacturer has also announced that a road-going version of the Freedom EV will make an appearance at the 2022 Geneva Motor Show. Elation Hypercars will only manufacture 25 units of the Freedom in its first batch, and it will take around 4,000 hours to assemble each example.

The most powerful version of Elation Freedom will feature a quad-motor setup that will churn out 1903 HP of power. The company will also offer a relatively more modest 1427 HP version that will also produce 1,062 lb-ft of peak torque. Elation claims that in its most capable spec, the Freedom will accelerate to 62 MPH from a complete standstill in just 1.8 seconds.

The car will also come equipped with a two-speed transmission, and the power will be sent to all four corners thanks to an all-wheel-drive system. Customers will get the option of selecting between a standard 100 kWh battery pack or the optional 120 kWh unit, and according to the company, the long-range version will offer 400 miles of all-electric range.
