Hill-climbing Porsche 993 GT2 Whistles While It Works

As if Porsche’s legendary flat-six doesn’t sound good enough, a pair of turbos makes it even better.

You can hate on these newfangled, turbocharged, small displacement engines all you want. The silly, overdone, Fast and Furious wannabes emitting offensive sounds via giant soda can-like mufflers. But nobody, and we mean nobody, is going to direct any sort of disparaging comments in the direction of this twin-turbo, 3.6-liter, Porsche 993 GT2. Or its insane series of sputtering, popping, and whistling.

No, in this case, the turbo whistle is more like an effective mating call than a guaranteed night alone eating an entire pizza by yourself. It’s not like the legendary flat-six doesn’t emit delicious noises on its own, but throwing in a pair of raging turbos just makes it better. Like when you get that extra cheese your waiter so graciously spreads, on request, across your pasta. And you always get extra cheese on your pasta, don’t you?

This purpose-built Porsche 993 GT2 has plenty of extra delicious (non-dairy) goodness on it, too. The GT2 Evo body kit gives it a nice, wide stance and the capability to run extra wide rubber. And you can almost hear Xzibit popping out of the woods saying something like “Yo dawg, I hear you like wings. So we put a wing on top of your wing!” Or at least that’s what we envision while checking out this Porsche from the rear.

Still, we found ourselves simply listening to the incredible, turbo-induced noises from this video on repeat. For us, it’s akin to how the fancy set feel about Mozart or Beethoven. But instead of those nap-inducing notes, we prefer our sounds to be a little more guttural, a tad more violent. And this heavily turbo’d Porsche 992 GT2 checks all of those boxes.
