How Well Has The 997 Aged? Matt Farah Finds Out In This “One Take”
Ten years is a long time in the automotive industry. If you think about all of the tech that has emerged in the last decade, it would almost make you feel that anything from 2011 is old news. The 997 featured in this One Take is ten years old, though. So, what do you miss out on when a car is older than the internet? In terms of the driving experience, not much at all.
This is one of the few times that Matt has been able to test a car in stock form, so impressions are raw. The car itself is a Carrera S, with PASM as the only option when new. Mileage is stil under 40,000, which makes it a rather fresh example.
The steering is described as “excellent,” and the PASM when turned on makes the car feel light on its feet. The tight roads that they chose actually work well with an engine that needs to be wrung out for it’s power. “You can be a bit hammy on the throttle without it stepping out.” With PASM off, you don’t get compromised handling either, it simply smooths out the ride.
The best part is the price range. With many 997 models in existence, you can have your choice of flavor for just a little over $40,000. Plus, the 997 might be the most well-aged car on the market.
