Infiniti Eau Rouge Facing Another Hurdle
Naming a car is especially difficult for an auto manufacturer. There are countless subcommittees, focus groups, and all manner of other weird corporate BS you have to jump through before you can let a car out on the world. Sometimes though, even if everyone is in agreement, you still have issues naming the car. For example, the Eau Rouge, Infiniti’s new super saloon.
The company filed for a trademark back in January in the U.S., but still hasn’t be given the green light to make the car happen. What’s worse is that Spa-Francochamps, the Formula 1 circuit that the cars named after already registered “L’Eau Rouge” back in April and says that if Infiniti wants to sell any of these cars, with this name, in Europe the company would have to reach an agreement with the track.
Infiniti has already put so much time an effort into naming the new car, all the publicity, all the hype, there really isn’t any other name that this car can go by.
But, it’s looking more and more likely that it might not be up to them in the end! I hope all parties can come to a mutual agreement, the world needs more ridiculous super saloons. They show that practicality doesn’t need to be boring or beige, it can be loud and fast as all hell.
