Infiniti Prototype 10 to Debut at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance
Infiniti teases electrified retro sports car shape with Prototype 10 concept.
Pebble Beach Concours d’ Elegance, aka Monterrey Car Week, is fast approaching. Luxury and exotic manufacturers the world over are bringing special somethings to display, and Infiniti is no exception. The brand will be bringing their Prototype 10, an electric concept car that signals the future of the Infiniti brand.
Infiniti describes Prototype 10 as “a daring electrified speedster that provides a window into the brand’s desire to deliver driving pleasure and thrilling performance from electrified powertrains.”
These superfuture speedster designs have become a popular item in Monterrey during the past few years. While we don’t expect Infiniti to drop a single-seat roadster production car on us, it does point towards future styling cues. That said, a lightweight roadster, based off the Q60 Red Sport 400, would certainly be a sweet, and potent ride.
Karim Habib, Executive Design Director of Infiniti, had the following to say about Prototype 10:
The Infiniti Prototype 10 echoes the layout and design of some of the most evocative car designs of all time, where power was celebrated through high-powered single-seat competition cars. Our new concept speaks of an electrified future, something which is reflected in its form and details. It is appropriate that we found inspiration in an optimistic bygone era in which cars were characterized by the simple love of driving.
Reading between the lines, it seems that an electrified Infiniti line-up is fast approaching. The brand has indicated that all of its new production cars, from 2021 onwards, will offer some form of electrification. That said, it seems to be a common trend among luxury manufacturers, and most initial efforts have been promising. Infiniti will officially debut Prototype 10 at Pebble Beach on August 23. More news from Monterrey as we get it.
