The Koenigsegg Regera is Here to Haunt Your Dreams
I don’t know what kind of Viking magic Christian Von Koenigsegg has resurrected and is using to power his cars.
But there is definitely something that man has either been drinking, or smoking, or praying to the ancient ones to make the most ridiculous cars on the face of the planet.
And with this new car, they’ve overtaken the likes of Pagani, Ferrari, Lamborghini, and anyone else that’s ever had any ideas on what a supercar should be.
This is the Koenigsegg Regera, and besides the bio-hazard rims, this is one of the most revolutionary cars of our time.
First off, it’s a plug in hybrid like you can get with a Prius. Except the battery packs and electric motors, of which there are three, combine to put out a staggering 700 horsepower.
Then you have a single turbocharged V8 that makes an extra 1,100 horsepower.
Now here’s how all that breaks down. First off, the smallest electric motor is primarily a starter motor. Why, because the Regera has no transmission.
Yes, it only has a single driveshaft connect from the crank to the rear wheels. The starter motor is much like the electric torque fill motor on the McLaren P1, it just augments the other two electric motors and the ICE to get things started.
Then the normal V8 starts chugging along with an extra 480 horsepower supplied by the electric motors. All in all, it combines to give you 1,580 horsepower which is just frankly ridiculous.
0-248 mph takes just under 20 seconds. That’s right, 248 mph in less time than it takes a Starbucks barista to make a normal non-hipster coffee.
Price tag on all this ridiculous engineering and performance? A cool $1.9 million. So start saving up boys and girls.
