2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio Photo Gallery
At the L.A. Auto Show, Alfa Romeo debuted their star car for 2016 and boy it was worth the look. We take a closer one of the new 2017 Giulia Quadrifoglio.
The numbers are impressive, to say the least, that Alfa Romeo released on the performance of this mid-size sedan. Zero to sixty in 3.8-seconds, record-setting lap time at the Nurburgring with a 7:39, 505-horsepower; it makes you want it without even driving it yet.
The engine that produces that 505-horsepower is a twin-turbo (bi-turbo in Alfa Speak) 2.9-liter V6 that also twists out 443-lb/ft of peak torque from 2500 to 5000 RPM. This power pushes the 4-door to a 191-MPH top speed. It also uses a cylinder deactivation system and engine start/stop system for improved fuel economy and emissions. Next summer, there will also be a 276-horsepower turbo 2.0-liter as an option if you’re not looking to power down the highway with gusto.
An interesting DNA Pro drive mode selection is also available on the Giulia: Race. This mode activates the over-boost function, opens up the two-mode exhaust, turns ESC off and delivers sharper brake and steering feel with more aggressive engine, transmission and throttle tip-in calibrations. This should be interesting.
Finally, there is also the use of an active aero front splitter. This is something normally regulated to supercars and, well, Ferraris; however Alfa is bringing it to the Giulia and is designed to not only make it sleeker for better fuel economy but also generate 220-pounds of downforce. We can’t wait to get our hands on one.
