Laird Hamilton and Gabby Reece Debut the all-new 2017 Land Rover Discovery
On the weekend leading up to the 2016 L.A. Auto Show, big-wave surfer Laird Hamilton and his wife/champion volleyball player/fitness leader Gabby Reece teamed up with Land Rover to unveil the all-new 2017 Discovery SUV at a pop-up venue in Venice, California.
Located on the corner of Abbot Kinney Blvd and Palms Blvd, the Discovery Venice experience is open to the public from November 11 – 14, and will give attendees an opportunity to explore the new Land Rover Discovery as well as a curated selection of some of the coolest, cutting-edge activity gear.
Sitting inside what looked to be an athlete’s dream garage was a “First Edition” Discovery, which is a special trim that will be produced in very limited quantities (approximately 500 worldwide). It features unique 21-inch alloy wheels, a distinctive black grille, and black fender vents.
Inside the First Edition are three rows of seating that comfortably accommodate up to seven adults, and when you need more cargo room, you can use the main touchscreen, switches in the cargo area, or a smartphone app to automatically reconfigure the second and third row.
One of our favorite new features of the 2017 Discovery is the available Activity Key, which is a waterproof bracelet that locks the vehicle and disables the standard key fob, allowing you to leave your keys in the car and enjoy the outdoors worry-free.
There’s so much technology, innovation, and luxury in the 2017 Land Rover Discovery, and you can see how it all fits into your lifestyle by visiting the Discovery Venice experience, the L.A. Auto Show, or LandRoverUSA.com.
The all-new Discovery rolls into dealerships in Spring 2017, and has a base MSRP of $49,990.
