VIN Nerd Ed Bolian Finds Two Stolen Lamborghinis

By -

With power of the internet it seems you can find anything. So, what happens when the internet goes looking for a pair of stolen Lamborghinis?

We live in an amazing age of information. Anything in the world is available using just the phone in our hands. Want to travel to Antarctica today? Just hope on a live stream at the pole ice cap and watch the penguins waddle around. We can see the world and never leave our rooms. Everyone is also a source of information. We take photos of everything, from cool cars we see to our steak dinner. Then we share this information with the world on social media. So, what happens when you take that power of people and information then apply it to a pair of potentially stolen Lamborghinis?

Lamborghini Gallardo LP570-4 Superleggera stolen

Ed Bolian is a Lamborghini nut and a total car nerd. He had an exotic car rental business in college and was selling Lamborghinis after graduating. He happens to know these cars inside and out. In his experience at the dealership he learned about the inner workings of the Lamborghini VIN system. So, when he spotted a unfamiliar Gallardo at his local Target he notice the I.D. number did not match up. The bright orange Super Leggera stood out like a stripper in church and he had to know more.

Knowing the value of information, Ed and a few friends started a community called VinWiki. This allows people to crowd source information on cars using the car’s I.D. number. In most cases the information is documenting the cars history either by the owner or the community. Ed used the VinWiki to track down the rare Lambo to a short list of 25 Super Leggeras in bright orange. In the case of a rare car like this, there are a very limited number of cars imported into the US. Check out the video to see what else he was able to find out. Let us know in the comments what you think of VinWiki.
