Lamborghini’s Sexy Huracan Takes on McLaren’s Nerdy 720S
With a considerable advantage in weight-savings and horsepower, the McLaren is poised for victory. Or is it?
The level of mechanical engineering that’s been reached in recent years, is nothing short of mind-blowing. As this video by DragTimes shows, these two wildly different, yet eerily similar vehicles may both be called “supercars,” but only one performs like it.
The McLaren 720S is the living and breathing definition of a British supercar. Almost nerdy and clinical in design, the twin-turbo V8 pumps out an insane 710 horsepower! Not only that, but it tips the scales at just 3,190 pounds. That’s nearly 300 pounds lighter than a feisty Ford Focus RS, but with more than twice the power.
On the other hand, the beloved Lamborghini Huracan is simply what an Italian exotic should look like. Raw, mean, and full of passion, the V10-powered raging bull produces 602 horsepower and weighs 3,510 pounds. By no means a lousy, fat boy, but just not as svelte and agile as the McLaren. For comparisons sake, it weighs 100 pounds more than the Focus RS and produces about 89 percent more power.
In the end, the 720S overshadows the Huracan with 108 more horsepower, and 320 pounds less weight. So how will they do in a standing and rolling drag race? Watch the video and find out!
