When the F40 first came out in 1987, the soon-to-be legendary supercar was the most expensive model that Ferrari had ever sold, running roughly $400,000. But later this summer, you can have one for just $89.99. Granted, it’s a bit smaller than the original.

For their latest LEGO Creator Expert replica, the team has wisely picked the Ferrari F40, a masterful ride that commemorated the marque’s 40th anniversary. The F40 is so legendary, in fact, that it’s the final car to be approved by Enzo Ferrari himself. Not only that, but the F40 is “the original supercar,” to quote LEGO’s promo video below.

Judging from the video, and the stereotypical idea of traditional Revenge of the Nerds style geekdom, it’s probably safe to say that the guys at LEGO Creator are really smart, perhaps too smart to be very good spokes-models. But regardless of the awkward presentation, the proof is in the product. With approval and insight from Ferrari, LEGO has meticulously created an 1158-piece, 10-inches long, 5-inches wide, and 3-inches high model that’s painstakingly true to the source material, right down to the aggressive side air intakes, the bigger-than-life spoiler, and the removable twin-turbocharged, 90-degree V8. Heck, even the lights pop up.

Having already faithfully and impressively recreated the Mini Cooper, the 1962 Volkswagen Camper Van, and the Mercedes-Benz Unimog, the LEGO Creator team has a proven track record. So be sure to pick up your own supercar when August comes around. You can’t beat the price.
