Weekend Project: LEGO ‘Speed Champions’ Ford GT & GT40

Here at 6SpeedOnline, few things make us feel more childish than giving into the temptation of the always amazing toys aisle. Whether HotWheels, die-cast, or in this case LEGOs, we’re always curious about which new “enthusiast toys”  have hit the shelves.
Wonder no more, because we recently found ourselves under that exact scenario, and we couldn’t help but bring home this awesome LEGO “Speed Champions” 2016 Ford GT and 1966 Ford GT40 set. In fact, much to the surprise of other adult shoppers, we were way too excited about finding this at our local store!
This specific set is made up of 366 LEGO pieces, and trust me when we say that you can (and should) ignore the 7-14 age range clearly labeled on the box. This exciting set that’s bound to rev your inner kiddo includes a celebration podium with a winner’s trophy, a black 1966 Ford GT40 with sweet gold wheels, and an awesome 2016 Ford GT from the 2016 Le Mans 24 Hours.
Building it is pretty straight forward and it only took us little over an hour to put it all together. Despite this being a basic set, and not a Technic model, the level of detail is still pretty amazing. Some of our favorite components include the rear diffusers, rear wings, and definitely the sleek driver canopies. Oh, and the sticker set is legit!
