1992 T92/10 Prototype

Powered by the iconic Judd Power V10 Formula 1 engine, this Group C Lola T92/10 competitor stuns us with nostalgia around Circuit Paul Ricard.

Have you ever seen a car that makes you wish that you could do nothing other than drive it all day? For racing fans, this would have to be a race car, a regular old production vehicle won’t cut it. After looking at the Lola T92/10 scream on track at Circuit Paul Ricard during the 2019 Dix Mille Tours hosted by Peter Auto, we think we found our pick. For those unfamiliar with Peter Auto or the events they host, they are a “classic car competition” organizer in Europe. Their events are famous for bringing out some of the best and most recognizable classic race cars throughout history. Such events include notables like the Le Mans Classic, bringing back the nostalgia of old-school racing to the race track that defined motorsport.

Although there are many beautiful and timeless prototype racers present at this event, we were simply blown away by this Lola T92/10. This car was created by the legendary British race car engineering company, Lola Cars. You might recognize them for being the chassis designers for the Mk.6 GT, the car that would then be developed into the iconic 1966 Le Mans winner, the Ford GT40. Lola Cars has since that impressive inception become a company integral to the overall history of motorsport. Thanks to 19Bozzy92 on YouTube, we get to see this legendary prototype spin some laps around this French race track.

1992 Lola T92/10 Prototype

This T92/10 chassis featured in the video was developed for the iconic Group C Prototype FIA category. At the time, Lola Cars was working in collaboration with many major manufacturers such as Chevrolet and Nissan to produce race chassis. However, this T92/10 would be procured without any major OEM collaboration. It was sold with the intention of being a complete turn-key chassis directly from Lola Cars. Thus, the body design needed to be the forefront of the vehicle. When looking at the T92/10 from just about any angle, it is radical from a design standpoint. The car has an extremely low roof line, a tiny bubble for a windscreen, and two distinct air intakes on the small front nose. Combine that with an enormous dual-element rear wing and a long sleek body, you have the recipe of a wind tunnel champion.

When deciding what heart to put into this now aerodynamically-prepped race chassis, the British company looked no further than Judd Engines. This legendary racing engine manufacturer is known to have created some of the most heartstrings-pulling engines ever made. They are recognizable and characteristic for their high-revving, high-pitch, screaming nature. This only makes sense because the company was at the time an engine supplier for Formula 1. Thus, the Lola T92/10 would feature a Judd V10 Formula 1 engine known as the GV10. You can hear it screaming through the French race track in this video.

For those with the love of racing in their hearts, this engine is an epitome of emotion. It creates nostalgia for classic racing engines with every blip of the throttle. Sometimes you just have to sit back and appreciate a piece of history fly around a race track. We can guarantee you one thing, a car like the Lola T92/10 is definitive of its time and may never exist again. If you love cars like this, make sure keep check on posts like this one. We believe everyone needs a healthy dose of classic motorsport in their free time.
