Lotus’ Brand New Futuristic Hypercar Will Cost $2.1 Million

Does the outlandish and cutting-edge design and insane power figures justify the sky-high price of this new Lotus?

Lotus is a brand rich in automotive history. Their prestige has come through decades upon decades of technological innovation and racing prowess. While the brand might not sell millions of cars every year like the major manufactures, their brand presence and loyalty among customers is unrivaled. Think back to the release of the Series Two Lotus Exige and Elise back in the early 2000’s. The package was simple, yet elegant. Functionality came before everything else, but the car still manages to this day to turn heads every single place it goes. Lotus’ recipe for success was to keep it simple and make it work. Not to mention the brand’s “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality.

To this day, Lotus has kept that idea and they only have three cars for sale: the Exige, the Elise, and the Evora. However, what if they felt like really stepping outside their comfort zone of making small, enjoyable sports cars and really tried to push the envelope of what is possible for a performance-based car? Thanks to Carfection on YouTube, we are able to look at Lotus’ latest big-budget effort: the Evija.

Lotus Evija

The meaning of Evija is “the first one” and this name is more than appropriate considering the fact that this will be the first car to be launched since the brand came under the ownership of Chinese automotive giant Geely. Strictly based on its external appearance, we can see that this is hell of a first effort for Lotus, because the design is simply amazing. The Evija won’t be replacing any car in the brand’s lineup, but rather joining the team and serving as a true halo car for Lotus. Seeing as there will only be 130 of these marvels built, its best to start saving.

Lotus' Brand New Futuristic Hypercar Will Cost $2.1 Million

The price point of this vehicle is almost as insane as its design: $2.1 million US Dollars or £1.7 million British Pounds. What are you getting for your money? 2,000 stock horsepower and 1,254 pound feet of torque. So you must be thinking, only that type of power could be made by a twin-turbo V12? Think not, as the Evija is 100% electric. Yes, 2000 HP from electric motors powering all four wheels, reaching sub-3 second 0-to-60 mph times and 0-to-186 mph in under 9 seconds.

The Evija’s electric range is said to be 250 or so miles and can be charged fully in 18 minutes with the proper charger. This is just the start of the crazy level of detail that has gone into this limited vehicle. Want to learn more about it?
