I Love the World Where John Hennessey Exists
I love the world that John Hennessey lives in. A world that revolves around horsepower, BBQ, and bacon. It’s the best thing about America. Sure, we have freedom from oppression and all that jazz, but when you really boil it down, America is about power and extracting as much out of something as humanly possible. That’s why John got his hands on a Z/28 and cranked the dial to 13, because 11 is just too wimpy.
Hennessey Performance took the already ludicrous Z/28, something so ferocious that when being developed it routinely ripped off the tire from the rim because of the stopping power, and tuned it to the realm of 636 hp. I love the part of the video where John says him and his client drove the car, and the 540 hp just didn’t feel good enough. It’s like he’s talking about a Civic, or a FR-S with 200 hp.
Essentially, what John did was turn a track car, something designed solely to go around corners fast, and made it an animal to drive in a straight line too. And I love it! Maybe when I head down to the Formula 1 race this year in Austin I should make a quick stop to John’s shop and check out some of the cars? All I know is that I never want him to stop. He’s like Carol Shelby, just trying to go fast.
