Celebration of all things air-cooled Porsche returns with the most fascinating venue to date!

Few things tingle the spine of gearheads like the aural delight that is the air-cooled Porsche. From the pre-A 356 to the end-of-the-line 993 911, there aren’t many models that are as celebrated, either. Fans of these iconic cars have no shortage of events to enjoy around the world, obviously. But few, if any, are as unique as Luftgekühlt.

The event, which celebrates its fifth anniversary this year, is special for a number of reasons. For starters, it is the brainchild of two-time Le Mans class winner Patrick Long and noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson. Secondly, only carefully curated, historically significant cars are displayed. Lastly, (and perhaps most importantly), its incredibly interesting venue changes each and every year.

Luftgekühlt 5 takes place in, of all places, Ganahl Lumber Company South Bay in Torrance, CA on April 22 from 9am-3pm. It might seem odd at first, but this is a place that promises to serve as a stunning backdrop for all that special vintage machinery. And die-hard Porsche fans will undoubtedly appreciate the connection with the brand. Back in 1944, Porsche moved production to a former saw mill in Gmünd, Austria. That venue gave birth to several iconic models, including the Type 360 and 356/1 mid-engine Roadster prototype.

You can experience the finest air-cooled Porsches in existence amid this unique setting by purchasing tickets to Luftgekühlt 5 here. For the truly die-hard, the Petersen Automotive Museum is holding a special kick-off party on April 20 from 6pm-10pm. That event promises even more air-cooled Porsche examples, a panel discussion, live entertainment, and refreshments. Tickets for that event are available here, along with special VIP access to the rooftop penthouse. Either way, Luftgekühlt 5 promises to be a can’t-miss event!
