Luftgekühlt never fails to choose the most interesting locations on earth, and this year might be the best one yet.

Porsche fans have a multitude of amazing events to choose from each and every calendar year. But for fans of air-cooled machinery, few compare to the excellence of Luftgekühlt. For 2019, this carefully curated vintage Porsche extravaganza continues its premise of using unique and interesting venues by heading to the Universal Studios Backlot on May 11.

It’s hard to imagine a more perfect setting for cars many hold in especially high regard. This is, after all, a place typically reserved only for tourists and actual movie makers. Now, these iconic Hollywood sets will be filled with air-cooled Porsches for one special day. And according to Luftgekühlt creators Patrick Long, a two-time Le Mans class winner, and noted Southern California creative director Howie Idelson, those two things go together like peanut butter and jelly.

“Photographic composition and backdrops have always been the cornerstone of Luftgekühlt,” organizers point out. And what better place to view some of the most aesthetically beautiful cars ever produced than iconic sets including the Courthouse Square from Back to the Future, the Amityville waters of Jaws, and the infamous Bates motel from Psycho?

The only bad news? Luftgekühlt 6 sold out rather early following unprecedented demand. But if you were lucky enough to secure tickets, you’re obviously in for a special treat. As always, the Porsche lineup present at this year’s event promises to be something truly special. But on the bright side, those unable to attend will also undoubtedly be treated to some stunning photography post-show. Which we suppose is at least a little bit of a consolation prize, no?
