Maserati’s Levante SUV Arrives Into Dealerships
We had the chance to see and hear the all-new Maserati Levante at the New York International Auto Show earlier this year, but it’s now time for the Italian SUV to have its shot at winning the hearts of wealthy locals.
In private reveal party organized by Maserati of Indianapolis, a bronze-colored Levante stood as the center of the attention of the rather small showroom, something which will change by the time the Levante goes into full retail mode, as the flagship showroom is nearly upon completion.
The precise color is called, “Rame,” which is Italian for copper, and it does an excellent job at highlighting the muscular, yet refined design queues of the Levante. It’s the artistic and almost—inspiring silhouette that sets it apart from all other luxury and sport SUVs in the market. In fact, the Levante’s performance stats may not amount to much when compared to the likes of BMW, Porsche or Mercedes, but when it comes to exterior and interior design, the Levante is utterly beautiful.
One thing that isn’t beautiful, it’s Maserati’s decision to offer only one engine option, but with two different horsepower outputs. It’s just like Tesla selling two battery capacities, but it’s technically the same exact battery. What it really means is, pay us a little more and we’ll push a couple of keystrokes and give you a bit more power, capish?
Still, it’s very early in the Levante’s life-cycle to judge it. The real judgment time will come as production goes into full swing, and units start arriving into dealerships. In a funky turn of events, Jaguar’s F-Pace is following nearly an identical timeline, as both the Maserati and the Jaguar are nearly two decades late into the SUV game.
Who will come out ahead? Only time will tell…
