Maseratis Recalled Because Ghiblis and Quattroportes Might Roll Away
Well, this is certainly awkward timing. Just days after news came out that the Jeep that rolled away and killed actor Anton Yelchin was under recall for having confusing gears, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV recalls some Maseratis for a similar issue.
The official count is 13,092 2014 Quattroportes and Ghiblis in the United States. They’re being recalled because apparently it’s possible that owners could think they put the cars in park, when in reality, they did not. That leaves the risk of rolling away, and we all now know how terribly that could end. As of right now, Maserati does not know of any incidents reported by customers related to this issue, but it’s looking at solutions. One option could be trying to re-flash the computer.
But until you’re notified and your car is fixed … maybe just don’t park on any hills.
