McLaren 570S versus McLaren 650S
McLaren recently took the wraps off its new 570S Sport Series. The car is meant to become McLaren’s best selling supercar and compete with the likes of the Porsche 911 and Aston Martin’s V8 Vantage. However, unlike those two, the McLaren is a true blue supercar with a mid-engine design and enough horsepower to take on anything the other manufacturers can bring. However, one question has been on many people’s minds since its debut. How does it compare to its bigger brother, the 650S?
The people from Option Auto recently took the two supercars to test to see how they compare, and the results are fairly surprising. The McLaren 650S, even though it has a proper dual-clutch, almost 100 more horsepower, and better aerodynamics, isn’t all that much faster than the lower spec 570S.
And that’s honestly what McLaren was aiming for with this car. The 570S is meant to be an everyday supercar that can still light your hair on fire when the mood strikes you, and giving it the same 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 motor found in the 650S, yet detuned, was a stroke of genius. Watch the two go head to head below.
