Meet Up With Us and Our Nissan GT-R at the Petersen Museum March 26
We’re Bringing Our 2017 Nissan GT-R Press Car to the Petersen Automotive Museum’s Breakfast Club Cruise-In
The Petersen Automotive Museum is hosting its March Breakfast Club Cruise-In on Sunday, March 26 at 8 a.m., and we’re going to be there. It just so happens that we’ll have a 2017 Nissan GT-R press car that day, and we want to show it off to you.
Nissan gave the GT-R a generous amount of updates for the 2017 model year, including more power! Admit it, you just read the words “more power” in Jeremy Clarkson’s voice, didn’t you? Anyhow, the GT-R’s 3.8-liter V6 is now beating to the tune of 565 horsepower and 467 lb-ft of torque. That’s up 20 horsepower and 4 lb-ft from 2016.
Nissan’s supercar now sports updated bodywork as well. The GT-R’s got a new grille, hood and updated rear fascia. It got an interior makeover for 2017, too. Sit inside and you’ll notice the quality has increased a few notches.
The instruments are easier to use, too. Nissan simplified the center stack by integrating the navigation and audio controls, as well as reducing the amount of switches from 27 on the 2016 model to 11 on this year’s model. Also, the shift paddles that control the car’s 6-speed dual-clutch transmission are now mounted to the steering wheel instead of the steering column.
In keeping with the times, Nissan has boosted the infotainment monitor’s size from seven to eight inches, and the car got a new lightweight titanium exhaust system to boot. That should mean more pleasing sounds from the engine. New sound absorption materials added this year, including an acoustic glass windshield, should mean a reduction in displeasing road and wind noise.
