Member Spotlight: 991 TTS With Mega Modifications is a Labor of Love
This build is what hard work and determination looks like. Dubbed “Project Redhead,” this Porsche 991 TTS belongs to Jeff Thompson, known on the 6 Speed forum as 918 Spyder. In previous posts, Thompson has detailed that he had his car running a 9.71 at 143 seconds down the quarter mile on nitrous and a 10.12 without it. He looked at those and thought, “time to kick it up a notch.”
So, with the help of By Design (SamboTTByDesign is seen all over this forum thread with updates), COBB, BBI, Vengeance racing, he laid out a list of upgrades he wanted and went after it.
His main addition was bigger turbos. He went with TiALÂ 3579s. He also added a new Inconel exhaust with titanium hardware from By Design, custom BBI headers, and an additional 200 shot of nitrous from Vengeance. To harness that power and put it down properly, he also said some suspension tweaks were necessary, as well as a tune from COBBÂ Custom.
Obviously, that’s a ton of stuff to fit in the engine bay, so it certainly wasn’t easy for the guys installing, but aside from a slight hiccup from a fluid leak, they seemed to figure it all out. Here’s how it dynoed running on 93 octane:
And here’s all the equipment:
