The Iconic Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa Is up for Grabs!
Get Your Don Johnson on With This Miami Vice Ferrari Testarossa
It is impossible to think of the ’80s hit TV show Miami Vice, and not think the sleek and seductive white Ferrari Testarossa. In retrospect, it’s impossible to think of the Ferrari Tesetarossa, and not visualize scenes of the hit TV show Miami Vice.
Thankfully, if you have deep enough pockets, the very lovely and exquisitely maintained 1985 Ferrari Testarossa can be yours. But for that, you’ll need an estimated 1.75 million dollars, and a trip to Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. Oh, and to make things extra interesting, it turns out this Ferrari left the factory painted black. So it’s been repainted. You know what they say…
Forget about what you’ve heard, because despite this Testarossa having being painted white at the director’s wish, it’s still extremely valuable. The 1986 prancing horse was given to Universal Studios (along with another identical unit) for the filming of Miami Vice. After changing their mind on the color, the car was painted, and used for filming the third, fourth, and fifth seasons of the show. The vehicle was retired in 1989 along with Miami Vice, and remained in storage until 2015.
It’s unclear who currently owns the vehicle, but they’ve brought it up to cosmetic and mechanic standards. That includes a thorough refreshening of the paint, trim and interior, though sources say the car was already pristine to begin with. Then, an $8,000 “engine out” service was performed. All-in-all, the Testarossa has been driven 16,500 miles since new.
Ready to add this flamboyant and iconic Ferrari to your stable? After all, who doesn’t want to relive a little Don Johnson in Miami Vice?
