My Porsche Story Series Reveals How Celebs Fell in Love With the Brand
Galpin Motors launches the new series My Porsche Story, in which we get to hear fascinating stories from some notable enthusiasts.
It’s no secret that Porsche has some of the most passionate fans of any car brand – not to mention just about every brand that exists in any sector. Porsche has achieved this by making desirable machines that are incredibly fun and entertaining to drive, of course, but elevating the brand to this sort of lofty level takes far more than that – it also involves good marketing, iconic styling, and many other factors. Thus, the arrival of the new series My Porsche Story is a fascinating one to watch, because it tells the tales of some of the more influential figures in the Porsche community and how it all started.
My Porsche Story is a product of Galpin Motors, and debuted at the conclusion of Luftgekühlt recently at Porsche Santa Clarita. The series aims to celebrate the passion and dedication that Porsche enthusiasts are known for, a group that includes Magnus Walker, Matt Farah, J Ryan, and Bruce Meyer, showcasing their individual journeys and connections to Porsche. Each episode will launch bi-weekly, with the first episode – centered around Walker – already available via Galpin Motors’ YouTube channel.
Walker – a fashion designer-turned-Porsche fanatic – tells the tale the search for his “dream car,” a first model-year 930 Turbo, along with other entertaining stories such as how his Porsche 718 Spyder sank to the bottom of the ocean. Then there’s Ryan, cofounder of LA’s hallowed “Good Vibes Breakfast Club” weekly pilgrimage along Angeles Crest Highway. In that episode, Ryan recounts sharing a Porsche 997 911S with his late wife Nicole as they cruised to Newcomb’s Ranch every Friday – an incredible tribute to her and to what has become one of LA’s most treasured institutions.
“We are beyond excited to debut this project,” said Beau Boeckmann, president and CEO of Galpin Motors. “We had such a great experience working on ‘Pimp My Ride’ and ‘Car Kings,’ but this is the first time we’ve done our own production and launched a series. All of us can’t wait to share these incredible stories with car lovers around the world.”
