MY RIDE! 1967 Porsche 912 and a 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S
When it comes down to choosing between a classic or a modern vehicle, sometimes that choice can be tough. Oftentimes the classic rides are more authentic to the roots of the car, since they are, after all, the roots themselves. Still, they’ll have more parts that go bump and bang in the night and oftentimes will be less comfortable to ride in.
But, there is something to say about being able to feel the road beneath you in a better and more full way. Of course, that’s not to bash modern machines — they do have a quieter ride, a smoother feel, and upgraded performance. But sometimes you can have he best of both worlds, so why wouldn’t you?
Today we’ll step inside 6SpeedOnline member mattyf‘s garage and take a look at the two rides that make their home between those walls!
We have to say, we really don’t see any classic Porsche vehicles enough. They really do look quite good and are very unique cars in just about every way. They are a wonderful reminder that Porsche has been king for quite a long time.
Mattyf owns a 1967 Porsche 912, and it really is quite nice. He is the second owner of the car, and it currently has about 110,000 original miles. It has been sitting since 1986 when mattyf purchased it in 2001, and is currently still sporting the original Sand Beige color. So far he has just gotten the Porsche running, which is definitely an accomplishment!
Though the interior still needs work, the suspension needs a bit of help, and the engine could be “freshened up” as well. The only modification is a NPR big bore kit, as mattyf recalls.
The second of mattyf’s rides, the modern sports car, is a 2006 Porsche 911 Carrera S. Stock through and through from what mattyf tells us, this ride is pretty perfect the way it is. We have to appreciate the mixture of the antique and the new, as clearly he does as well!
Go check out his garage and leave some comments, browse the photography, and have a good time! Be sure to keep your garage up to date and maybe you’ll be featured next week!
