Rolls-Royce announced that coming in 2016, a new model will be debuted to the public. This really doesn’t come as a surprise. According to the press release, I love saying that, “The car will build on the success of Phantom, Ghost and Wraith by continuing to boldly shape the future of the marque with contemporary, graceful and sensuous styling.

According to the CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos, the car in development will be “a contemporary interpretation of a pinnacle drophead tourer which will introduce even more discerning men and women to Rolls-Royce ownership.” Now I’ll tell you why I find those two quotes interesting.

The first points to an all new model, and not a revision or cutting of one they already make. The Phantom has been around for a long while, and Rolls definitely needs a new model to keep up with other luxury cars in the same market.

To me that seems a bit short-sighted, while I’ll never say the Phantom is old, it’s just not new, and needs an update. Second, the “even more” comment made by Muller-Otvos, is interesting because it points to a cheaper car below the Ghost.

At the end of the release, it says the new car is undergoing testing, so be on the look-out for spy shots soon.
