New Hennessey Venom F5 Engine ‘Fury’ Makes 1,817 Horsepower
‘Fury’ will power new Venom F5 hypercar. Although the power figures are stunning already, this engine is built to handle 2,500+ HP.
How does a little tuning shop from Texas go head-to-head with the automotive performance giants like Bugatti and Lamborghini? Keep them on their toes and keep them guessing at every turn. Oh, and crank up the power.
Hennessey Performance (HPE) was established in the early 1990s. Since then, they have created innovations in tuning and demonstrated a true prowess for building automotive excellence. Their motto is “Making fast cars faster.” It’s the perfect description of their ideology. They shocked the world with the original Venom GT, boasting 1,244 HP in a bespoke chassis inspired by a Lotus Exige. They aim to do the same for their latest invention, the Venom F5.
In a released released video on Hennessey Performance YouTube Channel, they reveal some of the details that will make this engine unlike any other.
You might be thinking, 1,800+ horsepower is a hell of a lot for a production car and for a V8. Well, HPE owner John Hennessey says you’re wrong. They wanted this engine to be bulletproof. Their goal was to to be able to wring this V8 out to its 8,200 RPM engine without a single care or concern. That is why the engine, named “Fury,” was built to actually handle power more in the range of 2,500+ hp. To call it overbuilt would be a pretty soft description.
What exactly allows this American V8 to push out that many ponies that easily? To start, it has 6.6L of displacement and there isn’t a single component that isn’t billet CNC or forged. The billet intake manifold has an integrated air-to-water intercooler similar to the B58 powering the new Toyota Supra. The pistons, rods, rod bolts, crank, block, heads, cams, lifters, pushrods; they are all billet or forged aluminum. The engine also features a dry-sump oiling system to ensure it never misses a drop of oil when it needs it. Slap on two 76mm Precision Turbo turbos rated for 1,350 HP each and well, you’ve got a hell of an engine.
