1971 Lamborghini Miura P400 SV

In the world of supercars, one moniker is definitely above the rest. That name, SV. Standing for Super Veloce, the SV status has only been imbued on the utmost batcrap crazy of Lamborghini’s. A tradition that started with the SV making its debut on the Miura, the SV badge indicated that there was something extra special with an already special car. The SV Miura had different cams, different carbs, and a whole host of other goodies that made the already quick car go even faster than before.

In the previous generation of the Murcielago, the SV came near the end of the run of the car. Something to send off the mad titan if you will. There has always been speculation that Lamborghini would put out an SV version of their new Aventador, but now that speculation has turned into something a bit different.

Last week, AutoEvolution out of the UK found out that some Lamborghini dealers were already accepting deposits on the car. Rather than this being confirmation of the cars existence, the outlet delved deeper and found out that the dealers were full of it, and accepting the deposits on the basis that if Lamborghini do decide to build another SV, that these individuals would have their names at the top of the list.

While that might sound mad to many of us, putting a deposit down on a car that may or may not ever exist, it gets crazier. The deposit that these people are making is only for the list to be considered to purchase the car if and when it ever surfaces. The depositors will then have to put another deposit down to secure the rights to be one of the owners of the car.

Essentially these dealers have created the weirdest Ponzie scheme ever. With Lamborghinis instead of stocks, and dealers instead of Wall Street bankers. Oh and the price for your name just to be on the first list, $17,000. Not bad when you consider the base price for a “regular” Aventador is around $450,000. Lamborghini hasn’t commented on if they will build one officially, but there has been unofficial talk of an Aventador SV coming in the latter half of next year. Time will only tell if these people made the right financial decision.
