In the advent of the smart phone age, professional spy photographers have their work cut out for them, especially when you can get scoops like this.
Coming from an amateur photographer, these are some of the best pictures to date of the upcoming Porsche 911 GT3 RS. Like the previous versions of the RS, this new car combines weight saving and a wonderfully bonkers naturally aspirated engine to become the ultimate track day weapon.
As you can see from the spy shots, returning to this RS will be the rear roll cage, as well as a set of five point harnesses. The new RS includes a massive rear wing, front and rear diffuser, full race seats, and massive air scoops to fuel the naturally aspirated 3.8L flat six that is expected to grace the engine bay directly above the rear tires.
While the GT3 RS won’t have an option for a manual transmission, only PDK, the new car will use the four-wheel steering system that has been perfected in a few other Porsche models allowing it to shave tenths off a lap time. To help shed weight, specific body panels are likely to use carbon fiber, and both a light weight lithium ion battery and titanium exhaust are likely to be used.
The car is expected to debut before the end of the year at one of the major auto shows. What is definitely known about the upcoming car is that it will be an absolute animal and a real treat to hustle around a track.
