One Evo to Rule Them All
Mitsubishi as a brand is just about dead here in the U.S. It hasn’t released anything to write home about in the last decade, and last year the company announced that its best car, the Evo, would no longer be built. Rally fans, and hoons all around the world cried out in disappointment and agony. Where would they get their AWD supercar destroyers now?
Then, a beacon of light, Mitsubishi announced that they’d build one last special edition Evo before ending the cars production. Months have gone by, and speculation about the upcoming special edition had faded into the back of everyone’s minds. Most figured it would just be another Evo X with a different paint scheme.
Thankfully, we were wrong.
This is the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X Concept Final, and it’s way more than a paint job.
This Evo is powered by the same 2.0L four cylinder engine as the current Evo, but almost everything has been upgraded. It has a new ECU tune, a new intake, new exhaust, new intercooler, new larger turbo, new suspension system, and a whole host of other new go fast bits. All of which makes 473 horsepower to all four corners.
That’s impressively fast.
Mitsubishi hasn’t released this Evo’s pricing yet, but figure at throwing down at least another $10,000 onto the Evo’s price tag. The Concept final will debut at this January’s Tokyo Auto Salon.
