Peep How Dustin Kott Gave Ryan Reynolds’ Thruxton Cafe Swag
Have you seen Deadpool stud Ryan Reynolds tooling around on a fancy-lookin’ Thruxton lately? The actor has a special affinity for motorcycles, cafe racers in particular, and Triumph took notice (his first bike was a CB750 at age 15). They wanted to give him a bike, but they also wanted to tweak it into a ride fitted just to his style and liking.
Smartly, Triumph didn’t do it all on its own and just asked Reynolds what he wanted. His answer pointed to one man: Dustin Kott. Aside from some input from Reynolds about the ride height and seating position, Kott ran point on the build and did a brilliant job tweaking the classic look of the Thruxton.
One of the biggest changes to the bike is it now has a tank from a Yamaha XS1100. That obviously changes the shape and lines of the bike. Kott also moved the ECU to beneath the custom-built seats, switched out the standard battery for a smaller lithium ion unit, added Hagon Nitro rear shocks, and put on Avon Venom tires. More details can be found in a full story about the bike in Built, a new motorcycle magazine.
Now, here’s an overly dramatic short film in which Mr. Ryan says that his motorcycle “saved his life” as a young actor facing sensory overload in Hollywood.
