Porsche 911 50 Years Edition
Gold is the traditional gift for a 50 year anniversary. Thankfully, for the 911’s 50th anniversary, Porsche has given us the 2014 911 50 Years Edition. Something new is what the car is based upon: the 911 Carrera S. What’s old are small bits and pieces that pay homage to the car’s ancestor way back from 1963.
The fabric on the seats is closer in style to what you’d find in a 60’s 911. There’s brushed Aluminum all over the cockpit aswell-the center console, the dashboard. On the back of the car is a special 50 Years Badge.
Because the car is wider than a Carrera S, Porsche have played with the suspension a bit to make the car stiffer. They’ve added a sport exhaust for a more aggressive tone, which comes from a normally aspirated flat six making 400 horsepower. That power gets to the road from either a 7 speed PDK or 8 speed manual gearbox.
My favorite are the Fuchs inspired wheels. Porsche changed them enough that we can still see the classic design, but they look a bit more modern and lightweight.
Porsche are only making 1,963 of this special edition, so if you want one you should get the order in yesterday.
Stunning car. Not an anniversary we’ll be forgetting, I swear this time.
