Porsche 911 Turbo v. Go-Kart: Who Wins?
The 911 Turbo, with all-wheel drive and a 3.6L turbocharged flat six engine is the stuff of legend. It’s an everyday supercar with mind-blistering performance. So you’d think, as an owner, you’d be able to wipe the floor clean in a drag race against a go-kart. Well, you’d be wrong!
The kart in question is powered by a motorcycle engine; a Suzuki 650cc motor to be exact. That creates an absolutely incredible power-to-weight ratio compared to the Porsche.
Even with the go-kart bouncing off the rev-limiter during the launch, it still gets traction and pulls ahead of the Porsche throughout the entire race.
Sure, you can’t reasonably drive the go-kart everyday. It’s definitely not something that you can go get groceries in. But, it costs considerably less than a Porsche 911 Turbo, and can definitely make you happy at the drag strip or on a race track.
If you want to know why auto journalists complain about the weight of sports cars all the time, this video illustrates that. Lighter, is indeed, better.
Which would you rather have, the everyday driving Porsche or the go-kart? Or both? Let us know in the forums!
